Over Heated Teflon Pans Can Create Toxic Fumes
For Your Canary And You
photo by Leo Drucker at Flickr
I would like to add some advice for your site. I have kept birds from finches and canaries to macaws for decades.
I would like to remind canary owners of the importance of the toxic properties of TEFLON and other non-stick pans. By the way, an overheated pan is not good for US EITHER!
I want to tell people to give away/sell{whatever} all
Teflon coated items. Some options for replacement are stainless steel and greenware. Glass or corning for the oven are more ideas.
While being out of the cage for exercise is great, don't forget safety concerns such as open doors and ceiling fans. Also mirrors and
uncovered windows can be a serious hazard.
Cheers, Carole
