U say that a drop of scatt is to be placed at the base of the neck, yet on the scatt bottle they say that it should be placed on the thigh.

So which is correct?

Great question!

When treating for mites with Scatt, the goal is to get a drop of the solution somewhere on the skin.

Anywhere will work.

I prefer the mite treatment solution to be placed on the back near the base of the neck simply because the bird can't get to it...to peck at it or get any of the solution in the mouth.

Not that getting the solution in the mouth is a terrible thing. It's just an extra precaution....I doubt that my house will ever be damaged in a flood but I keep flood insurance just in case.

So, the bottom line, apply the solution anywhere you want. Since Scatt recommends the thigh, that's a fine place to go with.
